There is an alarming obesity epidemic. Statistics show that the number of obese people has increased globally by about 15 times in the past 60 years, and over 60% of obese people live in developed countries. Obesity is caused primarily by genetics, poor eating patterns and lack of activity. Specifically people should stay away from fatty and sugary foods, sugary beverages and from processed and fast foods. The large quantity of food that we consume daily also contributes greatly to obesity.
Christos P. Tsonis was born in the small village of Grizokampos, near Finikounda, Messinias, Greece. After completing Primary School in Finikounda and High School in Pylos, He moved to Canada and then to the U.S.A. to study Chemistry, earning BS, MS and PhD degrees in Chemistry at the University of Akron, Ohio. He taught and/or conducted research at the University of Akron, Laurentian University, the National Research Council of Canada and KFUPM. He has authored and co-authored numerous peer reviewed scholarly research articles, reviews, book chapters, invited book chapters and books that have been published in some of the most prestigious international chemical publications, including the Journal of American Chemical Society, the Journal of Polymer Science, Polymer, the Journal of Molecular Catalysis, the Journal of Organometallic Chemistry, Comprehensive Polymer Science and the Polymeric Materials Encyclopedia. Currently, He resides in Toronto, Canada, with his family, where He is an avid investor, managing his multimillion dollar Investment portfolio and still marvelling at the mysteries of chemistry in our world that make life so rich.
